Water resources bill public hearing in senate Ways and Means.

SB 5536 (Regarding the management of water resources) was the topic of a public hearing last week in the Senate Committee on Ways and Means. The public hearing can be seen here (starting at around 18 minutes) or in the window below.

Ruckelshaus Center bill passed by senate Ways and Means

SB 5713 (Implementing recommendations of the Ruckelshaus Center process) was passed by the Senate Committee on Ways and Means.

There were no changes made by the committee to the bill, which was referred to the Rules committee, the last stop before consideration by the entire senate.

Shellfish enforcement bill passes house

HB 1453 (Regarding commercial shellfish enforcement) passed the house and was introduced to the senate for consideration.

The bill was amended before passing, the changes can be viewed in the updated bill here. Those changes are also summarized in a staff report that can be read here or below.

Natural resources agency consolidation senate bill passes committtee, referred to Ways and Means

SB 5669 (Consolidating natural resources agencies and programs) was passed by the Senate Committee on Natural Resources & Marine Waters and referred to the Senate Ways & Means.

In passing its original committee, the bill was amended. The changes are summarized in a new staff report, which you can view here or below.

Water resources bill (SB 5536) passes out of committee, scheduled for new hearing

SB 5536 (Regarding the management of water resources) passed out of committee and was referred to the Senate Committee on Ways & Means.

It was also scheduled for a hearing in Ways & Means for Thursday, February 24 at 1:30 p.m. The hearing will be held in Senate Hearing Rm 4 of the J.A. Cherberg Building.

In passing out of committee, the bill was amended from its original version. The changes can be found here. A new staff report was also written to reflect these changes (download here or read below).

SB 5713 (Implementing recommendations of the Ruckelshaus Center process) passed the Senate Committee on Agriculture & Rural Economic Development and was referred to the Senate Committee on Ways & Means. It was also scheduled for a hearing in Ways & Means for Thursday, February 24 at 1:30 p.m. The hearing will be held in Senate Hearing Rm 4 of the J.A. Cherberg Building.

Several bills pass out of original committee

HB 1082 (Concerning violations of the shoreline management act and the growth management act) passed out of the House Committee on Local Government and referred to Ways and Means.

HB 1192 (Ensuring the viability of small forest landowners) was passed out of House Committee on Agriculture & Natural Resources and referred to Rules.

HB 1885 (Providing streamlining improvements in the administration of programs affecting the natural environment) was passed out of the House Committee on Environment and referred to Rules.

Ruckelshaus Center bill passed to General Government Appropriations & Oversight, hearing today

HB 1886 (Implementing recommendations of the Ruckelshaus Center process) was passed out of House Committee on Local Government and referred to House Committee on General Government Appropriations & Oversight.

The General Government Appropriations & Oversight committee will hold a public hearing on the amended bill today at 1:30 p.m. in House Hearing Rm C of the John L. O’Brien Building.

Natural resources agency consolidation bill public hearing

The Senate Committee on Natural Resources & Marine Waters held a public hearing for SB 5669 (Regarding the consolidation of certain natural resources agencies and programs). In the video below, before the hearing there is reference to a substitute bill, which is not yet publicly available.

The committee chair will also hold a stakeholder meeting next Monday at 5 p.m. in Room 236 of the J.A. Cherberg Building.
