Governor’s toxics bill heard in public hearing in Appropriations, scheduled for executive session today

HB 1472 (Concerning use of chemical action plans to require safer chemicals in Washington) was heard in a public hearing in the House Committee on Appropriations at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 26. Two amendments dealing with specific appropriations in the bill are summarized in the substitute bill passed. You can watch the hearing here and here or in the windows below.

Preserving ag land and public infrastructure in flood plains bill passed out of Ways and Means

SB 5347 (Creating demonstration projects for preserving agricultural land and public infrastructure in flood plains) passed unanimously out of the Senate Committee on Ways and Means yesterday. There was a voice amendment to replace to words “implement” with “assess” to make sure the bill would only allow for a study.

Hatchery co-op bill passed out of committee

HB 1270 (Increasing salmon populations in Washington through the implementation of a new fish hatchery management structure that is modeled on the proven, successful structure utilized by the state of Alaska for the past forty years) was passed out of the House Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources last week. SB 5347 (Creating demonstration projects for preserving agricultural land and public infrastructure in flood plains) has been scheduled for an executive session in the Senate Committee on Ways and Means. The session will be held on Monday, February 23 at 1:30 p.m. in Senate Hearing Room 4 of the  J.A. Cherberg Building.
